FILAMENTS – ADVANCED

Advanced filaments are those filaments more suited to commercial use because they are designed to increase physical properties required for functional, rather than aesthetic, components. They typically offer more strength and heat resistance, for example. Advanced filaments are sometimes a little more difficult to use than the basic filaments. We’d be happy to answer your questions.

APLA – ADVANCED PLA

PolyMax PLA has been engineered to be more than 5 times the strength of standard PLA and is an excellent, safe stand-in for ABS and other harder to print materials when considering functional prototypes.

PolyMax PLA uses the same print settings as standard PLA.

PolyMax PETG is a new addition to the Polymaker family.

PolyMax™ PETG offers better mechanical properties than any other regular PETG making it a good candidate for a wide range of applications and a possible FDA replacement for harder to print nylon applications.

Please note that all PolyMax PETG rolls are available in either 1.75mm or 2.85mm diameter, and in 1 or 3 kg spools.

PolyMide™ is a family of Nylon/polyamide based filaments. Produced with Polymaker’s Warp-Free™ technology, PolyMide™ filaments deliver engineering properties intrinsic to Nylon and ease of printing.

PolyMide™ CoPA is based on a copolymer of Nylon 6 and Nylon 6,6. The filament combines excellent strength, toughness, and heat resistance of up to 180˚C.

PolyMide CoPA can be used in many different industries, especially in automotive, molding and jigs. A research team at TONGJI UNIVERSITY recently used PolyMide CoPA to build an eco-car that combined 3D printed nylon parts with carbon fiber panels. Because they could 3D print large parts with custom infill patterns, the team was able to better balance the weight distribution of the car, resulting in better efficiency.

TAULMAN 680

Taulman3D Nylon 680 FDA Nylon is a high grade pure polymer that is FDA approved for indirect food contact.

Taulman 680 was designed to print in the same temperature range as most other nylons and was designed as less pliable with increased transparency to support medical use as well as non-destructive visual inspection of printed parts.

Taulman 680 is a pure polymer, and there are no additives used in the chemical manufacturing or extrusion processes. It is also designed to be dishwasher safe, so it can withstand boiling water and steam

TAULMAN BRIDGE

RECOMMENDED PRINT SPEED: 30-90 mms

RECOMMENDED BED TEMPERATURE: 80°C

Taulman Bridge nylon is an excellent filament to ‘bridge’ the difference between ABS and other nylon material like Taulman 645.

Taulman Bridge was designed to offer better (easier) bed adhesion, reduced opacity to allow for visual assessment of layer adhesion, and reduced (not eliminated) absorption of ambient moisture.

It has excellent tensile strength and extremely low surface friction after printing, making it an ideal 3D printing filament for engineering applications like machine tooling and for creating threaded, functional parts.

TAULMAN 645

RECOMMENDED PRINT SPEED: 30-90 mms

Taulman 645 is a high strength nylon co-polymer that is specifically engineered for 3D printing application and combines excellent tensile strength, surface bonding, reduced water absorption, tear resistance and comes in a bright natural color with limited transparency.

Taulman 645 also offers superior surface texture and excellent bridging capacity.

This is an exceptionally strong and durable formulation of Nylon which has been specifically created and tested for use in 3D printing. This formulation is non-toxic and is ideal for creating production quality parts.

Taulman 645 is NOT FDA approved, but is considered organically inert – meaning that if it is ingested, it will pass through the human body.

Taulman 645 is used by CNC shops around the world to support quick turn prototypes for Pre-Pilot and Pilot runs as well as some limited production runs.  As global supply compresses and just-in-time becomes just-a-little-late, more and more CNC shops are jumping in to fill quick turn needs. Taulman 645 is machinable with similar settings and cutting speeds as used in Cast Nylon blocks.

Thermal properties are slightly higher than Nylon 6,6 and Nylon 6,12.

ColorFabb XT-CF20 is a Carbon Fiber based filament that is meant for parts that need to be extra stiff. With a high melt strength and great dimensional accuracy and stability, XT-CF20 is the perfect filament for sturdy prints like parts for drones, and automotive/aerospace prototyping.

Plus it sure is sleek with its matte black finish!

XT-CF20 filament is often used for applications that demand stiffness and dimensional accuracy, and is great for advanced prototyping, RC cars, drones and quadcopters.
